
What is Trafficking
Human Trafficking is the illegal trade of people through force, fraud, or coercion for the purpose of exploitation - such as forced labour, sexual slavery, or organ trade. It is a serious crime and a violation of human rights.
Definition (as per UN Protocol)
“Human trafficking is the recruitment, transportation, transfer, harbouring or receipt of persons by means of threat, use of force, or other forms of coercion, for the purpose of exploitation.”

Types of Trafficking

Sex Trafficking
​Forcing individuals into commercial sexual exploitation or pornography.​

Labour Trafficking
Exploiting people for work — in factories, farms, homes, or construction — under threat or without fair pay.

Child Trafficking
Selling or exploiting minors for labor, begging, sex, or illegal adoption.

Know the Signs
Look out for these warning signs of someone who might be trafficked.

No control over personal documents (ID, passport, etc.)

Not allowed to speak freely or move independently

Works excessively long hours for little or no pay

Signs of physical abuse, malnourishment, or poor living conditions

Fearful, anxious, submissive, or avoids eye contact

Accompanied by someone who controls communication or movement

Sudden disappearance of a child or youth without explanation
If You Suspect Trafficking

Do not confront the trafficker directly.

Call the Police (100) or the National Human Trafficking Hotline (India: 1098 for children / 181 for women).

Report suspicious activity to local authorities or NGOs working against trafficking.
