TALITHA KUM INDIA
Who We Are

AMRAT, derived from Sanskrit, signifies life-giving water. It is associated with the Talitha Kum international network of Consecrated Life Against Human Trafficking.
"The Spirit of the Lord has anointed me to give good news to the poor" (Lk 4:16-19). Human trafficking, a form of modern-day slavery, is defined in the UN Protocol to prevent, suppress, and punish human trafficking, particularly of women and children, supplementing the Convention Against Transnational Organized Crime. The AMRAT network extends beyond India to also encompass Pakistan, Nepal, Bangladesh, and Sri Lanka.

Sr. Jyoti Pinto BS, then the Superior General of the Congregation of the Sisters of Little Flower of Bethany Mangalore attended the Meeting of the Union of International Superiors General ( UISG) in the year 2007, in Rome. The harsh reality of Trafficking in Persons which were on the rise from the African and Asian countries to the European Countries deeply pained her.In the year 2009, UISG in their Assembly adopted a daring and an apt response to the growing crime, namely Human Trafficking by launching an International Network 'Talitha Kum' end Human Trafficking. Sr. Jyoti Pinto took initiative to launch the same as a unit of Talitha Kum International in India gathering sisters from 5 South Asian Countries, namely Asian Movement of women Religious Against Trafficking in persons(AMRAT). The first meeting was held in 2009 November in Goa with the help of International team from Rome. Gradually each country began their own network. Thus, Amrat became the life giving nectar / water and continue to grow in awareness, and commitment with collaboration and networking with likeminded NGOs and Government departments Restoring Life and dignity to thousands of persons. "To bring Life , Life in abundance."
"I have come that they may have life, life in its fullness."
