Amrat Talitha Kum Network Maharashtra Regional Assembly was held on 10th August 2025 at Vinayalaya, Andheri, Mumbai. The event began with a prayer led by Sr. Moksha Anthonappa FMA, which set a reflective and spiritual tone for the day. Sr. Sagayamary SCHSA, the outgoing Regional Coordinator, welcomed all participants and introduced the first resource person, Mr. Prosper D’Souza.


Mr. D’Souza, an advocate associated with Wadala Church and the Archdiocese of Mumbai, and a professor at a law college, conducted a comprehensive session on cybercrimes, online exploitation, and digital trafficking. He discussed the legal dimensions of social media, the dark web, and tech-based control, emphasizing the importance of cyber laws in addressing digital abuse and exploitation. His session provided valuable insights into the growing threats in the digital space and the legal tools available to combat them.

 

The second session was led by Dr. Anniha Lobo, who focused on mental health and risk management. She explained that mental health encompasses emotional, psychological, and social well-being, which influences how individuals think, feel, and behave. Dr. Lobo highlighted various psychological risks such as excessive workload, harassment, traumatic experiences, financial instability, and social isolation. She stressed the importance of proactive measures to prevent and mitigate harm to mental well-being, encouraging participants to prioritize mental health in their personal and professional lives.

 

After a short tea break, the third session was conducted by Mr. Aboo Varghese from the Purnata organization. His presentation was deeply moving and grounded in real-life experiences. Mr. Varghese shared the challenges he faced while working in the field and spoke about rescuing over 44 victims of trafficking, helping them rebuild their lives. Survivors also shared their personal stories of exploitation and recovery, offering powerful testimonies that underscored the urgent need for intervention, rehabilitation, and support.

 

Following the lunch break, the fourth session was conducted by Adv. Bro Rajesh Parmar SJ, who addressed the issue of migrant crises. He explained how to effectively connect with government agencies and relevant authorities during emergencies involving migrants. His expertise provided valuable insights into legal support and advocacy for displaced individuals, equipping participants with practical tools to assist vulnerable populations.

 

After the sessions, an election was held in the presence of Sr. Meera, President of AMRAT, to appoint the new Coordinator for the Maharashtra Region. Sr. Monica Kujur, from the Congregation of Our Lady of Charity of the Good Shepherd, was elected as the new Coordinator. The outgoing Coordinator, Sr. Sagayamary SCHSA, warmly congratulated Sr. Monica and presented her with a symbolic sapling, representing growth, courage, and responsibility. Sr. Meera also honored Sr. Sagayamary SCHSA with a sapling, expressing deep gratitude for her dedicated service over the past three years. Her commitment, perseverance, and ability to foster unity within the region were sincerely appreciated.

 

Sr. Hira Parkhe SCC will continue as Secretary, and Sr. Moksha Anthonappa FMA will continue as Treasurer. The workshop concluded with a vote of thanks by Adv. Sr. Hira Parkhe, who acknowledged the contributions of every participant and emphasized the spirit of collaboration and networking. The one-day gathering ended at 5:00 PM, with a total of 44 participants in attendance. The event was a meaningful and enriching experience for all involved, reinforcing the collective commitment to combat human trafficking and support vulnerable communities.
